Don Barrett’s musical roots were cultivated by steady doses of Chuck Berry, Sonic Youth, Mahler and Mingus. He began his musical career as a drummer, when a typical evening would find him playing a punk rock festival before heading home to wrap a commission for the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra.
Fast forward to Hollywood where his film scoring odyssey began with two shows for Fox — Family Guy and American Dad, and CBS’ Touched By An Angel.
On any given day, Don can be found in Magnolia Park pounding out chords and reaching for his click book. His studio, Patio 7, welcomes all kinds, colors and cultures. The Wisdom Tree is visible from his window and Morricone’s score to “Once Upon A Time In America” will most likely be on repeat.
